How we pick

How we pick.

What we look for in every business, sources linked next to the facts, and a clear line between what we verified and what we could not.

The short version

Each guide is our pick of the businesses worth calling in a category. We build a list of candidates, read the evidence, and keep the ones that stand up. The list is our editorial opinion. It is not a customer rating, a certification or a guarantee.

What we look for

  • Expertise. A business that specialises in the exact service, with a verifiable track record and named people who do the work.
  • Evidence of work. Case studies or project write-ups with specifics: named clients or sites, scope and outcomes.
  • Customer experience. Ratings across a meaningful number of reviews on independent platforms. Ratings shown only on a business’s own site count as its own claim.
  • Transparency. Published prices or price ranges, a clear process, terms, full contact details and an ABN.
  • Professional standards. Licences, qualifications, insurance, memberships and awards relevant to the category, checked independently where possible.

Unknown is not a black mark

If we cannot find evidence for something, we say “not verified”. Missing evidence is something to ask about, not a bad result.

How a guide is put together

  1. We build a candidate pool from search results, industry directories, award lists and review platforms, and record how many businesses we considered.
  2. We research the strongest candidates from their own websites and from independent sources, and link each factual claim to where we found it.
  3. We publish only as many picks as stand up. If seven qualify, the guide lists seven.
  4. Every guide and business page shows the date it was last checked. We never update a date without re-checking the evidence.

Listings marked Featured have a commercial connection to Two Cents. They are labelled wherever they appear, and outbound links to them carry a rel="sponsored" attribute.

Research basis

Current guides are desk research: published websites, independent review platforms, business registers, award lists and industry directories. We have not purchased or tested the services described, and we do not claim first-hand experience unless a guide says so explicitly.

Corrections

Anyone can request a correction for free, with a link to evidence. We check every request, and material changes are recorded in the guide’s update history. Send a correction.
